How prehab fits with physical therapy
Prehab is the work you do to go into surgery as strong as you can. Your surgeon may refer you to physical therapy for it, and that comes first when they do. We are a coaching option for strength work your surgeon or physical therapist has approved, not a replacement for them.
What we work on
Strength around the joint and the areas that will carry you afterward, such as the hips and trunk for a knee, within your restrictions. We also practice what daily life will ask of you afterward, like getting up from a chair.
After surgery
Follow your surgeon and physical therapist first. Once you are cleared for exercise, bring their notes and we continue on a written plan. We are coaches, not clinicians. We do not diagnose or treat, and we work with your doctor or physical therapist's guidance, not in place of it.
See Personal Training and how we work between physical therapy and personal training.
